We passed the midway point of 2021 on July 2. After the midway point in each calendar year, the pace picks up. This year is also the midway year of the nine-year cycle from 2017 to 2025. This is the literal turning point.
The midway point in the last nine-year cycle (2008-2016) was 2012. However, 2021 is not quite like 2012. Though they are both 5-years and denote movement and change, 2021 is change on steroids by comparison. (I wrote about that here.) And as the rest of the year rolls on, that movement and change will only intensify. Whatever we must change in our lives — but for whatever reason have delayed in the first half of 2021 — we are coming face-to-face with from now on. This is the transition; it is sweeping away all the cobwebs, all that no longer resonates within us. If we are keen to change something in our world, the momentum of 2021 supports efforts to make that change. If we don’t want to, if we resist and procrastinate, the tension will only build and build until we are forced to pay attention.
To help us move with the times, there are in each year certain dates we can join with others around the world to help move things along. I’ve written about the 5-5-5 (May 5) and the 6-6 (June 6) portals or activation points or days, as some call them. From a numerological perspective, they are key moments to reflect on how we’re going, what’s working, what’s not, and what we’d like to do about it. Together. Up next is the 8-8 on August 8, which some call the Lion’s Gate. As it’s in Leo, that is apt.
The thing about the number 8 is that it’s relentless, it won’t let you rest. Lessons come on top of each other, so to speak. There's likely a bit to juggle and/or some quick thinking to do. In particular, the 8 plays out in big institutions such as government and business. It also expresses itself through the legal system, with a strong emphasis on justice: “rewards received, punishments due”. This is also a day to gain wisdom from the journey undertaken, more acutely from the day before, the 7th.
There’s also something else in the mix. The Compound or karmic number of August 8 is 21, the Crown of the Magi (the wise), and it means victory after a long struggle. That's because the “Crown” is only gained after a long initiation, much soul testing and various other tests of determination — determination is also a key quality of the 8. The Chaldeans pictured 21 as “The Universe” and that it would promise general success, and advancement and elevation in life. However, on August 8, 2021, the 21 is hidden from view so it may not be obvious to people and so could come as a surprise when it surfaces. So, expect something seemingly out of leftfield on this day.
To take advantage of this opportunity, you could meditate on or contemplate what you want to have happen for yourself, those close to you, your community, your country, the world. Go big! Anytime will do, though to balance the 8 energy, choose 5am or 5pm; to enhance the energy choose 8am or 8pm, wherever you are in the world. As best you can, ground yourself, with bare feet on the earth. Hopefully, it’s warm and dry where you are! Oh, and there's a New Moon on the 8th, so get ready to manifest those intentions.
I would say this is a test. And also a chance to start making those changes you've been putting off. With eyes open and knowing what you want, you can now walk through that gateway.
