This year isn’t necessarily all about you. It’s about the world.

The numerology of each calendar year speaks to us as the human collective, society, the world — however you want to call the sum of us. It doesn’t mean every one of us is directly affected as individuals, like our personal years are. It will affect us all indirectly simply because we live in a thing called a society. That said, some of us will have been directly affected: maybe a ninth of the population, specifically those in a 9-year.

That’s all about to change: the dominance of the number set 2025 (9) is now drawing to a close and will soon be replaced by the number set 2026 (1) and the beginning of a new 9-year cycle. Throughout 2025, no other number has the frequency and influence of the 9 vibration. So it offers opportunities and challenges for us as a whole, as the human collective. And it will for some individuals, as well. If we are also in a personal 9-year — even for part of the year — then the 9 of 2025 further influences the choices we make and actions we take.
For example, if you’re in an 8-year then move into a 9-year in 2025, the influence is split. It still means the focus is on the gaining of wisdom, justice and restoring to balance (the 8) and on completion, letting go, “wrapping up stuff” and potential conflict to be resolved (the 9). So, you would still feel the tail end of a personal cycle as well as a global cycle, assuming you’re aware and self-reflecting. You are being prepped for the new cycle in a significant and speedier way than most — up to seven-ninths of humanity.
Similarly, if you’re in a personal 9-year and then move into a personal 1-year on your birthday in 2025, and you’re doing the work (and play) required, you’ll do the wrapping up alright — up until the end of your personal 9-year — but then hit a potential roadblock that slows you down. That is, you’re ready to start new things only to be held back to some extent because the world is still in a 9-year and you’re waiting for everyone else to play catchup! So, you might want to use the time to make sure you’ve wrapped everything up well and have planned out your moves once the global 1-year hits on January 1, 2026. A 9-year is especially apt for both cleaning house and creating room as well as making plans for what you want to do in the new personal year and cycle.
I give these two examples to show how to work with the global year, because just about all of us will have split years; the only ones who won’t are those born on January 1. The rest of us have variously split years, marked by our birthdays. And that’s the key point. Your personal year is more important to you than the global year. Each global year is reflected in us as a whole and then plays out like an extra light that shines over each of us individually, that frequency overlaying our personal year. So, while we’re all focused on 2025 — and its focus on completion and conflict that arises in undertaking that completion — don’t ignore your personal year.
What matters is how the 9 of 2025 affects you, in the context of what personal year you’re in. In general, it encourages us to get comfortable with what we are learning about ourselves in our personal years, deal with any blocks and challenges that come up along the way and, to the extent you can, resolve any conflicts and finish the task or tasks at hand. It will shift in 2026, so make the most of clearing what you can now. Here’s my very general and very brief guide. If you’re in:
a 1-year it’s about starting things, being in control, innovating, expressing your power externally (to the world)
a 2-year it’s finding more of your intuition, self-nurturing, building one-on-one relationships, and expressing your power internally (to yourself)
a 3-year it’s about expanding your horizons, educating yourself next-level up from conventional learning and feeling positive, allowing yourself to feel optimistic and idealistic
a 4-year it’s marked by developing your individualism, freedom, being original and inventive, fostering tolerance, expecting the unexpected, and flaunting the unconventional
a 5-year it’s a transition year of change and more change, thinking quickly and moving quickly, being versatile and flexible, and communicating with those especially close to you
a 6-year it’s the love and romance year, plenty of sentimentality, focusing on making home and garden beautiful, music, art, and all social pleasures
a 7-year, you’re on a journey to the core of your being, it’s full of mystery, of dreams, there’s an intense interest in the esoteric, in philosophy, the deep (spiritual experiences, premonitions, ESP and other spooky stuff!)
an 8-year, it’s about gaining the wisdom that comes from the journey within (from the 7-year), justice (‘rewards’ due, ‘punishments’ delivered), restoring to balance — and it’s relentless and it’s determined that you learn.
What the 9 of 2025 does is push us to complete what we’re doing in our personal years, depending on how far along we are in those personal years. So, focus on your personal year first and just take note of the global year. In short, for the rest of 2025, if you can see what needs wrapping up in your personal life, do it; complete what’s glaringly obvious. In the new year, the game changes completely. Minimise what you carry into 2026. You don’t want your weighty baggage holding you back — nor holding the world back, either. Collectively, if we don’t shed the obvious in 2025, just watch the emotional tension on the planet go through the roof in 2026. And it’s crazy enough now.
