THE YEAR 2026

BRAND NEW CYCLE

The year 2026 is the first year in the new cycle and the first of the four in-breath years. The cycle will continue until December 31, 2034.

SNAPSHOT

Like all shifts into a new cycle, moving from 2025 to 2026 will be transformative. We have opportunities to innovate, to create, and to begin anew. Likewise, there are new projects, new associations, and new ways of doing things. If we as a human collective have done the work in 2025 to end conflicts; wrap up longstanding tasks; let go of no-longer-valid attitudes, patterns of behaviour and ways of seeing the world, then we’ll be ready to plant some new seeds in 2026. If not . . . more conflict — at least in those places we didnt finish.

Also, if we’re ready having done the hard yards in 2025, with this new cycle, we can afford to take some risks. Calculated ones. To deliver on anything new in 2026 will require self-discipline, willpower, careful planning — and capacity. The passion for innovation is there in spades, however, success only comes through discernment. (The number set 2026 also carries the Compound (karmic) Number 10, aka The Wheel of Fortune, which does require discernment because the wheel carries both the power of absolute creation and absolute destruction, so we need to tread carefully.) We are free to create anything but, without discipline, there’s a risk of projects being marred by pride, ego, or arrogance and over-confidence. Energy ultimately leaks out. Excess ego will be the killer in 2026. If new projects are to thrive, pacing is vital. It’s about thriving rather than just surviving. The overworked, burnt-out warrior full of too many ideas is no model for a long-term foundation. Marshall this new energy purposefully. Otherwise there will be tension. The river wants to flow unimpeded and we still have a few dams slowing its path.

At the start of any new cycle, it’s important we check our plans for any flaws and ask: “what do we really want now?” and “is there capacity for this?”

If we’ve answered these two questions and feel confident we’ve been honest with ourselves, there’s no reason why we can’t set out to explore 2026 with zest, enthusiasm and openness. The new cycle abounds with enormous potential. Be open to it. And be open to novelty, as well. What has been hidden will become more obvious — if we are awake, that is. This year not only supports creativity, it also encourages originality, which means putting aside old ways; there’s just not the support for it anymore. That boat lies shipwrecked.

In short, and given 2026 is action-based: if there are setbacks or delays in 2026, it’ll be because we didn’t bite the bullet and end the conflict or at least expose fully the corruption and deceit that was shown to us in 2025. I am expecting some more revelations that have been hinted at over the last three years, the global 7, 8, 9-years of 2023-2025. There will be more in 2026. Institutions and organisations that did change their ways when they saw the writing on the wall, will prosper. Those who clung to business-as-usual face the risk of being swept away by fresh winds.

To finish on an optimistic note, it is very possible that more and more countries will choose resolution over confrontation, peace over war either by the end of 2026 or in the Master year of 2027.

Your personal year and the 1-year of 2026

How does this 1-year affect each of us personally? That will depend on your personal year. You can work that out here. Your astrological sign is also a factor, but that’s adding another layer to the cake and far more complex for this blog. So very briefly and very generally:

If you’re in a 1-year, 2026 intensifies your personal year. You can go for broke and start something to your liking! No holding back. Ride your wave.

If you’re in a 2-year, you’re out of synch. However, you can make it work provided you don’t focus too much outside yourself but rather focus on partnerships, one-to-one relationships and on self-nurturing and emotional wellbeing. What you initiate won’t be physical and demonstrable but rather intuitive and personal.

If you’re in a 3-year, you’re in synch with 2026. You’ll ride your wave comfortably, expanding out as you go, drawing from different ways of seeing and doing. You have flexibility on your side. Focus on group work, drawing from a wide range of knowledge, embracing diversity of thought.

If you’re in a 4-year, at times you’ll be out of synch with the 1-year. When feeling out of synch just let go, drop whatever’s bugging you; taking time out as needed to reflect, even for ten minutes at a time can help. There’s enough topsy turvy in a personal 4-year without adding to it! However, just be aware of how you react. That’s the lesson of this combination. As always, be open; don’t be scared if your responses to everything in 2026 are unconventional. Expect the unexpected, the unusual. Also remember to focus on the bigger picture. Allow yourself to experiment, play, dabble, go off on tangents, go on inventive adventures, and explore where breakthroughs might take you.

If you’re in a 5-year, you’re sometimes in synch with 2026, sometimes not. This calls for being flexible and adaptable. You will hopefully learn to ride the wave when you’re in harmony and, when you’re not, to get out of the water and take stock on the shoreline. The smart thing to do is just drop what’s not working and move ahead quickly. And I mean quickly; the 1 turbo-charges the 5, which is already fast-moving. So, there may be times when you’ll surprise yourself and others with your capacity to push ahead.

If you’re in a 6-year, it’s very similar to the 5 year. You’re sometimes in synch, sometimes not. You’ll readily feel at home when things are running smoothly, but when they’re not, seek refuge in nature or your happy room, which is where you’ll want to be anyway. The 1-year will add impetus to your garden and home improvement plans and social life. Don’t ignore that. It’s a wonderful time to surround yourself with beauty and relax with friends. Share the love!

If you’re in a 7-year, you’re out of synch with 2026. Just keep deep diving, even if the world (and those around you) are telling you to come to the surface and get serious! Keep contemplating, meditating, daydreaming. There’s heaps more exploring to do, and if you haven’t started, get those goggles on and top up that air tank. It’s perfectly okay — and probably smarter — to go it alone, less focused on the physical world.

If you’re in an 8-year, you’re also out of synch with 2026. You’re still digging up stuff and you’re not quite ready to down tools just yet. Expect some conflict. You do not need to follow the herd into action. There is purpose in diligent exploration. No matter what, be determined, thorough, steadfast, consistent. In your unearthing, always seek to balance the books, so to speak. Reflect on the lessons from your deep-dive 7-year, that is, before your previous birthday.

If you’re in a 9-year, you’re mostly in synch with 2026. At least with the pace. Ignore the pressure to start something new; you’re still in wind-up mode; you still have jobs to finish. Complete what you know you must, especially all the stuff you didn’t get to in 2025! You may very well finish them in record time. When you’re out of synch, if any conflict does arise, it could get messy. Insist that you’re not ready: you will get to sign on the dotted line, just on your terms.

No matter what year you’re in, the momentum of the world being in a 1-year will influence you personally by at least encouraging you to act on what you’re supposed to be focusing on in your personal year. We are all being turbocharged, catapulted, boosted. In which case, it might help if we make our positions on anything and everything completely clear from the start to avoid the possibility of misinterpretation. Best if we make sure everyone who matters is well-briefed on our ideas and planned actions. And please stop thinking “who are we to dream so big, to undertake such and such?” If we are truly committed to [insert your chosen activity here], we can stretch out and feel supported.

The year as 20-26 (twenty twenty-six) not two thousand and twenty-six

Since 2020, we’ve been calling each year as 20-20, 20-21, 20-22, not two thousand and twenty, two thousand and twenty-one, two thousand and twenty-two and so on. That change added extra information to the mix. We now call 2026 as 20-26, not two thousand and twenty-six. The 20 is The Awakening, the 26 is Partnerships. The 26 asks us to be especially attentive to looking after ourselves as much as we feel drawn to look after others, especially when we put others consistently before ourselves. Be careful with any partnerships you form this year, as well as existing ones. Try to bring the pendulum back to the centre, especially if it’s been swinging all over the place. While the 1-year tempts us to take risks, the 26 cautions against going completely for broke, suggesting we avoid extravagance, and rather invest in ourselves and in our collective future. It’s not saying don’t be generous, but we must ensure we have “some money in the bank for that rainy day”.

The motto is: Trust your hunch, the gut instinct, the first thing you feel, don’t be easily persuaded by others. If your heart is the sun, only give freely the rays, which are renewable. It’s important to maintain equilibrium or to keep returning to balance as much as possible. I’m looking at you Australia, a 26-by-birth nation. Could be in for some home truths!
