December will be on steroids

Updated: 6 days ago

It’s the night before the end-of-year exam. Have we done all our homework? Have we studied that chapter that couldn’t possibly be in the test? Confident we’ve left nothing to chance? That’s what December in any calendar year is like. And its even testier as Mercury goes retrograde.

rollercoaster

This global 8 year — based on the sum of the year, 2024, being an 8 — is tempered somewhat by what personal year we are in. Some of us will feel competely comfortable with all the unearthing and upheaval; some will want to pull the covers over themselves and pretend it hasn’t been happening; and some of us will feel a lot of struggle is required before we can begin to feel we might be getting somewhere approaching some answers. Turn the 8 on its side and you get the message of the 8 in one image: this is about restoring balance and justice through revelation, that old “rewards received, ‘punishments’” due thing. So it’s understandable it may be uncomfortable for many of us.

No matter what personal year you’re in, we are all playing in this 8 vibration.

Now, this energy will change very soon and 2025 will be different. We will get to finally breathe out, finally let it all out, complete the last year of this long 9-year cycle. I will leave that to New Year’s Day when I write up the year ahead. As much as I want to spill the beans on 2025, I’ll bite my tongue.

For now, it’s time to complete the digging up process, so to speak. All the things that have been hidden from view must come to the surface to be viewed. The focus is on powerful institutions: big government, big business, and the law. Some entities will need to go or change significantly to make room for new players due to come onto the world stage in 2025 in readiness for the new cycle in 2026. The old ways are coming to an end and with the 8’s characteristic forensic approach to the process it has been relentless, thorough and unforgiving. They’ve served us these entities, for better or worse, but we are learning rather quickly they are no longer fit for purpose as they are. As well, all distinctions and classifications are being challenged; we see that, for example, in the left-right, liberal-conservative dichotomies. We are coming back to the centre after the pendulum has swung from one extreme to the other. The healthiest way to view this is from a non-attached position and choosing to align with activities that resonate with us regardless of what they are referred to as. Which is why, for example, Anarchists/voluntarists and conservative libertarians are finding common ground despite their differences. Why some Democrats jumped ship and joined Trump. And vice versa.

The 20 part of 2024 increases the disruptive nature of the 8 year, and it encourages us to wake up from our slumber. And if we’re not awake by now, December will be something of a rude awakening; the number 20 is The Awakening in Chaldean numerology. If we haven’t been watching the onion being peeled away this year, the unravelling could mess with you!

Back in September I wrote a blog about the months of the year. To recap, each of us has a personal month number as well as a personal year number. We simply add the number for each month — January equals 1, February 2 and so on to December 12, which reduces to 3 — to our personal year. We can also apply this to the global year and December, being 12, expresses itself as a 3. Which means revelations across the board. The number 3 is expansive in its reach, so expect every field of human endeavour to be in the spotlight in the month. That’s what makes this last month of 2024, especially juicy. I’ve said it before, but — seriously — strap in.

To add to the mix: Mercury goes retrograde

Mercury is retrograde in Sagittarius from November 25 to December 15, 2024. Mercury is the planet of communication and symbolises the mind’s connection to the world. When retrograde, its usual flow feels obstructed. This reversal offers an opportunity to turn inward, to pause, to question, to examine, and to refine. It can affect decision-making, and without discernment choices made during this period may later be regretted by both the head and heart, which can lead to disruption, even chaos.

Miscommunication and Introspection

What you might feel: Words may fail to convey their true meaning. Misunderstandings are likely to arise, leading to conflict or, ideally, introspection. Conversations may feel circular, as though you’re speaking but not truly being heard.

What to watch out for: Avoid critical discussions that require absolute clarity. Misinterpretations are likely, so document important points and, if possible, delay significant agreements.

Delays in travel and technology failures

Travel plans may unravel, and gadgets could malfunction. Emails and texts fail to send or be received and so forth. A sense of helplessness or frustration might arise as things don’t go as planned.

Reflection on past relationships

People from your past — old friends, ex-lovers, or unresolved connections — may resurface. Emotions tied to unfinished chapters may bubble to the surface, offering an opportunity for closure or deeper reflection.

Revising decisions and plans

What you might feel: Previously made choices may feel uncertain or incomplete. Projects might require revision, and clarity could seem elusive. Agreements that once seemed solid may now appear shaky, prompting a re-evaluation.

Conclusion: “Light can be found in the darkness, as can your strengths.” In other words, your light is in your shadow; you don’t find more light in light.
