There are two portal days remaining in 2021: December 12 and December 21, which is also the end of an important cycle that began in 2012. Expect some big shifts to accompany that milestone. And yet more from January 1.
This December’s Solstice, the world will — perhaps surprisingly — complete a cycle, even though the world is not in a 9-year, when cycles normally draw to a close. In fact, we are right in the middle of this current 9-year cycle. These are the dying days of the 5-year, which is characterised by movement, change and transition. So even though it isn’t the end of a typical cycle — such as the years 2016 or 2025 — it is the end of a cycle that began nine years ago on December 21, 2012. That was when the Mayan calendar was thought to have ended; some even claimed it was the end of the world. Not quite, we’re still hangin' in there nine years later! To the extent that people put their focus on the day as portending an end, the day and what follows carries with it an aspiration of something new replacing it. From that day’s numerology alone, it simply meant the day would see consciousness expand and there was cause for optimism because victory was assured after a long struggle. Whatever this past nine years have been about — and you can draw your own conclusions about that — that cycle is now coming to a close, and a new cycle is about begin. Another victory after another long struggle would be nice!
It coincides with the world moving into a 6-year. Suffice to say, what it does mean is that we are getting ready to breathe out again. While it might have the feel of something new about to happen, the new year is not so much about creating a lot of new things straightaway, but rather a time to build a foundation upon which to grow some structures. We don't have to know what those structures are just yet, though. One of 2022’s foci is security and hence it will be important to lay a solid foundation. It will be small-scale, though, and favour activities on the more intimate, community-level. Size does matter and from now on, small is more beautiful. That's what the 6 energy of 2022 is strong on: forming close relationships with which we resonate, that we know well. Sovereignty matters. Mutual respect matters. Things in common matter. More about all that in the new year.
And that can be our focus for the 21st: clearing what stands in the way of us laying the formwork for that foundation. While we’re not ready to pour the concrete just yet though, it is time to think about the quality of the formwork.
Sunday December 12

The Chaldeans viewed 12 as The Sacrifice • The Victim. They warned us to keep our heads up, to be alert to every situation, to beware of false flattery, offers too good to be true. So, we are implored to carefully analyse motives. Forewarned is forearmed. Be discerning. There is also frustration from feeling the need to sacrifice personal goals to the ambitions of others. Have a look at the number 12: the first digit, the 1, is the teacher (be it another or life itself); the second digit, the 2, is the student kneeled before the teacher. The 12 represents the educational process on all levels, and the effort and sacrifices needed to gain knowledge and wisdom. Look within, not outside. Success comes from careful study: Remember and learn from your lessons. The extent to which we learn them, that is the degree of our mastership of the 12.
On the day, if there is one thing to focus on it’s discernment. That means sharpening perception, developing our critical thinking and always asking before we act: Is this right for me? Do I want this? Meditate on or contemplate that and also think how it affects those close to us, our community, and further out to our country, and the world as a whole. Anytime will do, though to balance the 12 energy, choose around 6am or 6pm or 9am or 9pm; or to enhance the energy choose 12 noon or 12 midnight, wherever you are in the world. As best you can, ground yourself, have your bare feet on the earth. Hopefully, it’s pleasant and dry where you are! If you want to use colours to bathe the planet in, golden white is always good, though you can add in autumnal colours, and orange and yellow.
Now to Tuesday, the 21st
The number 21, which the Chaldeans pictured as The Universe, is also known as The Crown of the Magi — translated in the modern context as the apex of spiritual wisdom. Quite the prize is the 21: it promises success and guarantees advancement and elevation. After a long struggle, it indicates victory over all odds and all opposition, for the Crown is gained only after a lengthy initiation, with many tests of determination. This day holds a most fortunate vibration, a number of reward for having endured. So, it's exceedingly promising. This is the in-your-face karma of the day. As it reduces to 3 (2+1=3), expect the elevation and advancement to be widespread, both in scope and reach, in what it affects and whom. The 3 also suggests that it will potentially leave no (or very few) stones unturned. If there is an aspect of life ripe for challenge, this is a good starting point.

Success only comes from learning from past lessons and from looking within for the answers, not outside yourself. Be careful what you allow in.
